The Wisconsin Chapter Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) organization. Our goals are to promote the discipline of risk management, foster educational and professional development of risk managers and others within the risk management and insurance communities, and to promote a competitive insurance marketplace to the benefit of all insurance consumers.
Chapter History
The Chapter was originally founded as the Wisconsin Insurance Buyers, Inc. on May 21, 1956 with the purpose of uniting in a central organization of qualified buyers of insurance to make available a forum for their discussion of insurance problems of mutual interest.
Wisconsin Insurance Buyers joined the RIMS predecessor organization, and became the Wisconsin Chapter, American Society of Insurance Management, Inc. on September 10, 1959. With the name change of the national organization, our name was changed to the Wisconsin Chapter, Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. on August 5, 1975.
